OUR MISSION

The Dilworth Soup Kitchen & Food Pantry is a nonprofit soup kitchen and food pantry striving to combat food insecurity in our community. We provide free, nutritious meals as well as free groceries to our neighbors in need every week of the year, regardless of their circumstances. We treat everyone with dignity and respect, setting no requirements and with no questions asked.

Quick Facts

  • Dilworth Soup Kitchen was established in 2008 to help feed the hungry in our community.

  • We are now a Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry, expanding our mission in late 2023 to include a twice-monthly food pantry program that provides increased support to families in need.

  • We serve 200+ free take-out lunches every Monday and Friday, year-round, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

  • In addition to meals, we provide donated fresh groceries and non-perishable foods twice weekly, along with purchased bags of fresh groceries every Friday.

  • Our Food Pantry is open on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. Guests may schedule an appointment to shop for fresh produce, proteins, non-perishable foods, and frozen casseroles. More than 200 families benefit from this program.

  • Annually, we serve approximately 21,000 healthy lunches, distribute 60,000 pounds of fresh groceries, and 65,000 pounds of non-perishable foods.

  • Our guests include children and adults and range from the unhoused and working poor to low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities.

  • Through our community outreach program, we deliver 100 lunches twice weekly to homebound residents at Charlotte Housing Authority sites and provide meals for at-risk middle school students.

  • We are supported by local individuals, businesses, schools, and faith communities that generously donate food and funds.

  • Dilworth Soup Kitchen is operated by an all-volunteer team, with no paid full-time staff and no regular source of funding. All donations go directly to feeding the hungry.

  • Everyone is welcome — no requirements, no charge, and no questions asked.

  • We are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization located at 1200 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC.
