Dilworth Soup Kitchen Invites Groups To Join Our Adopt A Meal Program

Many local groups and organizations such as churches and country clubs are looking for ways to volunteer and give back to the homeless and struggling families in our community during the pandemic.

The Dilworth Soup Kitchen has an opportunity for your group to work as a team to contribute to this goal, while still practicing social distancing and staying safe.

Several groups already participate in DSK’s program, including the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Carolina Golf Club, Quail Hollow Country Club, Dilworth Methodist Church, Charlotte Café, Sonny’s BBQ and Something Classic Catering, who’s partnered with DSK for their Stone Soup for Our Souls program

DSK serves more than 300 takeout meals a week every Monday and Friday. Your group can provide DSK with cooked proteins such as meatloaf, pulled BBQ pork or chicken, baked ham, meat sauce for pasta or baked chicken tenders.  One of these could be the entrée for a Monday or Friday meal.

The Adopt a Meal program gives our hardworking DSK kitchen team some greatly needed assistance and allows your group to join us in this community effort.

We need about 60 pounds of cooked protein (20 three-pound meat loaves as an example) for every lunch.  It takes a coordinated group effort to supply this amount of cooked food for a meal. DSK’s volunteers prepare complementary side dishes for the prepared entree along with water, fruit, condiments and a dessert. We assemble 150 takeout containers every Monday and Friday for distribution starting at 11 a.m.
